SHARKS ARE FRIENDS NOT FOOD!!!

Shark fining has been a huge issue in this world mainly because of the multimillion dollar fining industry to make shark fin soup. We saw a nature documentary about sharks and fining called Sharkwater. People think that sharks fin can cure nasty diseases. Well they don't! Sharks can get cancer too so basically when you are eating the disease infected fin you get the disease not preventing it. A random fact I learned from this movie is that starvation kills more people than sharks. Isn't that ironic? Personally I think long lining is completely useless and cruel. Not only are you hurting sharks but other animals too like seals, dolphins and sea turtles! Fining is also cruel and useless because you are basically hacking the fins of an innocent shark then throwing it back in the water letting the poor animal suffer for a bowl of soup. Shark fin is made of cartilage and our ears are made of cartilage so we are eating tasteless pieces of ear (cartilage is tasteless).

Saving the sharks

In global issues we started an action project to save the sharks. We raised awareness in this project by making everything related to killing sharks to make the people fell sympathy for the sharks so they can think about the pain the sharks are going through. What we could have changed in the project is have it placed in a bigger area because almost everything was squished. I think we should do another action project on this because it is a huge issue. I leaned that sharks aren't really the main cause of death.

Global Issues

Global Issues is a problem in the world that we can try to solve. Global Issues is linked to poverty when people don’t have enough for their basic needs. Global Issues is important because then we can take action on the horrible things that are going on in the world. Some people don’t know what is actually going on in the world right now. Personally global issues is important because then we will all get an understanding about the people living in poverty. A lot of people get a better understanding if we take classes like this a lot. We live more ethically by helping other people. We can show how ethical we are by helping those in need. If we help those in poverty it can be an impact to the whole community. If there are people that are extremely rich they will take in more money, land and food. If there are a lot of poor people in an area then it will crowd an area then the whole community will fall into poverty. It is important to help those in need so that the whole community will not fall into poverty and suffer. This all makes me think that Global issues is really important.
